A photo of Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton signing paperwork has gone viral, with claims that it captures his first day at Ferrari after switching from Mercedes. However, we found the claim to be misleading, the image is AI-generated.

Upon close examination, we identified several inconsistencies. Hamilton’s left pinky finger appeared distorted, and the document he was signing seemed blank. Additionally, his well-known hand tattoos were missing in the viral image.

To verify further, we ran the image through AI detection tools. 

Hive Moderation indicated a 99.8% probability that the photo was AI-generated, while Sight Engine estimated a 72% probability of artificial creation.  

Further comparison with verified photos of Hamilton’s Ferrari visit revealed clear discrepancies. Lastly, we reviewed the ‘Sir Lewis Hamilton Fans’ page, which posted the viral image. The page has over 1.9 million followers.

Conclusion:

The viral image claiming to show Lewis Hamilton’s first day at Ferrari is AI-generated. Distorted fingers, missing tattoos, and a blank document raised suspicions, while AI detection tools confirmed its artificial nature. Additionally, verified images from Hamilton’s Ferrari visit on January 20, 2025, showcased notable differences in his appearance and attire.
